In a 42-year-old woman, on the heel
What to see at dermoscopy:
-irregular diffuse pigmentation as prevalent dermoscopic feature
-scar-like depigmentation and erythema
-white dots correspond to ecrine duct openings
Biopsy at one pigmented place was indicated and histopathology confirmed acral melanoma
Comments: diffuse irregular pigmentation is more suggestive of invasive acral melanomas.

- erythema and structureless areas
- regression areas (melanosis or peppering)
- linear scar-like depigmentation

Histopathological correlation: solar lentigo (lichen planus-like keratosis)
Comments: the presence of a linear scar-like depigmentation could be associated with secondary trauma.
