Patient 150
In a 53-year-old woman, on the abdomen
What to see at dermoscopy:
-erythema
-central scar-like depigmentation
Extirpation was suggested
Histopathological correlation: dermatofibroma
In a 53-year-old woman, on the abdomen
What to see at dermoscopy:
-erythema
-central scar-like depigmentation
Extirpation was suggested
Histopathological correlation: dermatofibroma
In a 36-year-old woman, on the gluteus
What to see at dermoscopy:
-homogeneous blue pattern
-blue-white veil that covers the entire lesion
Extirpation was suggested
Histopathological corelation: blue nevus
Comments: In the majority of cases, by historical and clinical presentation, the diagnosis of a blue nevus can be established unequivocally. Without a clear history of a stable lesion that is suggestive of a blue nevus, extirpation is mandatory to rule out nodular melanoma
In a 9-year-old girl, on the upper lip (lesion present since early years of life)
What to see at dermoscopy:
-asymmetry of color and shape
-delicate pigment network in the lower portion of lesion (parallel-like pattern)
-irregular globular pattern
-blotches
-blue-white veil
Biopsy was suggested
Histopathological correlation: compound nevi
Comments: after 2 years of regular follow-up, subtle changes were observed in this lesion therefore biopsy was indicated. Regular follow up was suggested.

In a 36-year-old woman, on the gluteus
What to see at dermoscopy:
-multiple branching blood vessels (a few in a tree-like pattern)
-multiple blue-gray globules
-fissures
Biopsy was suggested
Histopathological correlation: nodular basal cell carcinoma
Comments: besides its atypical localization (the gluteus is not a frequent sun exposed area), this lesion presents fissures, a relatively common finding in keratoses seborrheic and also observed in congenital and dermal melanocytic nevi.
