In a 19-year-old woman, on the upper back; previous history of melanocytic lesion excision
What to see at dermoscopy:
-recurrent pigment does not extend beyond the white scarred skin
-pigment network and streaks
-erythema and scar-like depigmentation
Dermoscopy in favor of recurrent nevus
Comments:history of an initial biopsy or excision attempt of melanocytic lesion should be always investigated. The dermoscopic features of persistent nevi are also commonly seen in primary melanoma. As a general rule, in recurrent nevi the pigment will not extend beyond the scarred skin and the entire scar will often be surrounded by a light brown color.
